Only a fragment of an epic about Germanicus remains of Albinovanus' work; the elegies were erroneously ascribed to him by Scaliger. ¶ The second work is attributed variously to Lucilius Junior, Virgil, Cornelius Severus, and Manilius. ¶"Beronicius, P.J. -, schoorsteenveger, taalgeleerde, kenner van Gr. en L. en dichter; dichtte in het Latijn. o.a. Georgarchontomachia, d.i. Boeren- en Overheidsstrijd, n.l. de bestorming van Middelburg door de Walcherse boeren, 21 Juli 1672. Dit gedicht vertaald door Petrus Rabus, 1691; daarna nog herhaaldelijk, o.a. door J.B., 1766. Beronicius werd 1673 dood gevonden in een sloot bij Middelburg, waarschijnlijk in dronkenschap gestikt. Dirc Buysero maakte dit grafschrift: "Hier ligt een wonderlyke Geest, / Die leefde en stierf gelijk een Beest. / Hy was een misselyke Sater: / Hij leefde in Wyn en stierf in Water." ¶ Zijn Georgarchontomachia is een navolging van de Batrachomyomachia, de Kikvors- en muizenkrijg, het bekendste stuk burleske poëzie der Oudheid." (DBNL) "Het leven van Beronicius was ongebonden en woest; hij was met vuile kleederen omhangen, en aan de dronkenschap overgegeven, zocht ook het gezelschap der vrolijkste en schandelijkste menschen, onder welke hij dikwijls vele dagen schuilde."
